Belarus plans to impose a tax on mobile apps and online games sales

Belarusian Ministry of Taxes and Assessments plans to impose a tax on sales of mobile apps and online games in effect since 2017. Informs Belarusian website Belrynok.

Igor Klepcha first deputy of  the minister of Taxes and Assessments of the Republic of Belarus reported possible Tax Code change in 2017. According to deputy minister, the new rules concerning taxation of electronic services provided by non-residents of the Republic, will be offered.

It is planned to impose a tax on the sale of mobile apps and online games, including the products offered by the gambling industry. Foreign companies may be required to pay value added tax during the sales of goods on the territory of Belarus.

Currently, the mechanism of VAT collection is in developing, after that offers will be systematized and forwarded to the Ministry of Finance for inclusion into innovations of the Tax Code.

Note, that from January 1, 2016 a 4% tax on winnings (non-played bets) in all gambling establishments of the Republic of Belarus was implemented.
